Matariki is approaching and we have been learning about this wonderful celebration here at Montessori STARS!
Matariki is the Māori name for a cluster of stars which is visible in our night sky at a specific time of the year.
In 2019, from 25th to 28th June, Matariki will re-appear in the dawn sky – signalling the start of the Māori New Year.
It is a time to celebrate new life, to remember those who have passed and to plan for the future.
It is a great time to spend with whānau and friends – to enjoy kai (food), waiata (song), tākaro (games) and haka.
As such, we would like to warmly invite you to a shared kai here at preschool on:
Tuesday, 25th June at 4pm.
To celebrate our many different cultures here in our centre, we would love for you to bring a dish to share that is representative of your own whānau culture.
Feel free to bring along brothers, sisters, grandparents, anyone you consider to be whānau – the more the merrier!
We are so looking forward to celebrating and sharing with you all.
Arohanui,
Shaz, Loz, Aimee and Tessa
