We are excited to commence a new year of fun adventures and learning experiences by building cherished memories with our STARS tamariki!

Welcome back STARS whānau we hope you had a lovely Christmas break ❤ . We are also welcoming lots of new whānau to Montessori STARS and saying ma te wa to some of our tamariki who have ventured off to kūra. Our weather is glorious and we are spending a lot of time outside. Our outdoor environment has become a place full of buzzing activity! We have had a variety of new learning experiences set up each day including sensory exploration, continuously watering our plants and lots of water activities, physical gross motor challenges and quiet spaces for Montessori learning bringing our inside activities to outside.

The beauty of our small environment is the endless opportunities for our tamariki to grow close connections and friendships with one another building special bonds through social and emotional competencies. Together we are learning skills such as helping each other, taking turns, role modelling, sharing ideas and showing compassion and care. Imaginative play is a strong interest with our STARS through role-playing, doctors, nurses, Mum’s and Dad’s, Police and Fire Fighters you name it our STARS create it through their play. We love observing this play and watching it evolve as our children build confidence in participating and expressing their ideas in a team.

Over the next few weeks, our Kaiako will chat with our whānau allowing you to discuss what you want us to work on with your child, we call this (Your Parent Aspirations). This will be done through daily conversations, our goal is to work in partnership with whānau to best support and extend their child’s learning and development.
