Every two weeks at Montessori St Albans Rising Stars, we focus on a new letter. We do activities highlighting the letter, have special guests talk about iterated topics, and one of our favorites, we get to eat yummy things that start with our fortnight letter. Here’s a report from Montessori STARS’s owner/teacher Shaz about last weeks’ food foray with the letter J.

“I don’t know about you, but the first word that pops into my mind when I think of the letter J is…JELLY! 🙂

So, we learned how to make jelly, we took turns mixing it and watching the jelly crystals dissolve then let it cool before popping it into the fridge – checking it every now and then to see if it had changed from a liquid into a solid – well a wibbly wobbly solid!

The tamariki thought they would be getting a wee spoonful each to try once it had set…but I had a surprise in store for them! I had spent a good deal of the previous evening (and maybe a bit of the wee small hours of the morning!), making RAINBOW JELLY!

So, instead of trying the one flavour of jelly – each child, upon finishing at LEAST their sandwiches at lunch time, got to eat a fantabulous, scrumdidlyumptious and totally delicious taste sensation RAINBOW JELLY! Woot woot! Happy dance!”
